Shopify stores built to sell
A custom storefront with the cart, checkout, shipping and inventory actually configured, plus a walkthrough so you can run it yourself without calling a developer every week.
Shopify owns the transaction, I own the storefront
For a brochure site I hand-code everything. A store is different. Payments, tax, fraud screening and a checkout that has to keep working while you sleep are a solved problem, and solving them again badly is not a service worth selling.
So the split is clean. Shopify handles the money. The storefront on top is custom-built rather than bought, which means your store does not look like the twelve thousand other shops running the same paid template.

How an ecommerce build runs
Catalogue review
Before anything else, we look at your product data and photography. This is what actually decides the timeline, so it is worth being honest about early.
Storefront build
The theme is built to your products and reviewed with you. Payments, shipping and tax get configured and tested with real test orders.
Handover
A recorded walkthrough of the Shopify admin so you can add products, edit content and fulfil orders without needing me.
Timeline and cost
Ecommerce builds start at $4,500 with a 50% deposit, and take four to six weeks. Shopify's own subscription is billed by Shopify directly and is separate from the build cost.
After launch, edits are available as a $50/mo add-on or ad hoc. Because the store lives in Shopify's CMS, most day-to-day changes are things you can do yourself.
If you do not need a cart
Plenty of businesses that think they need a store actually need a good brochure site and a phone number. If you are selling services rather than products, a standard custom site is a much cheaper way to get online, and I will say so rather than sell you a store.
Common questions
Why Shopify instead of a fully custom store?
The moment you take card payments you inherit PCI compliance, fraud screening, tax tables and chargebacks. Shopify handles that layer better than a solo developer reasonably can. Shopify owns the transaction, I own the storefront.
Is the Shopify subscription included in the price?
No. Shopify bills you directly for their plan, and that is separate from the build cost. Premium apps, if you need any, are also billed by their developers.
Can I add and edit products myself?
Yes, and you should. Day-to-day work like adding products, changing prices and editing descriptions happens in the Shopify admin without touching code. You get a recorded walkthrough of exactly how.
What if my product data is a mess?
That is normal and it is the main thing that moves the timeline. A hundred products with clean spreadsheets is a much faster job than twelve products whose photos need reshooting. I will tell you honestly which situation you are in.
Do you migrate an existing store?
Yes. Migrating products, collections and customer data from an existing platform is quotable as part of the build. Bring me an export and I will tell you what it involves.
What it costs. Managed plans are $500/mo with $0 down and include hosting, unlimited edits and updates. One-time builds start at $2,500. Full breakdown on the pricing page.
