CLIFTON, NEW JERSEY

Web design for Clifton businesses

Clifton is the second largest city in Passaic County and one of the most commercially spread out towns in North Jersey. That shapes what a website has to do here.

Clifton does not have one main street, and that is the problem

Most towns have a downtown. Clifton has Botany Village, Styertowne, Allwood Circle, Lakeview Avenue, Van Houten Avenue, and the Route 3 and Route 46 corridors, and they function almost like separate towns. A customer in Athenia does not think of themselves as shopping in the same place as a customer in Delawanna.

Practically, that means foot traffic and word of mouth stay local to a neighbourhood, and your website is what reaches the rest of the city. A Clifton business that ranks well pulls customers from parts of town that would never have driven past the storefront.

You are competing with Passaic, Paterson and Nutley at the same time

Clifton borders Passaic, Paterson, Nutley, Montclair, Bloomfield and Wayne. Somebody searching from the eastern edge of Clifton may well be served results from Passaic, and somebody near the western edge gets Wayne results. Search results here are decided by proximity in a way they are not in a town with clean boundaries.

That is why the Google Business Profile service area matters so much locally. If yours is set to a vague radius or the wrong categories, you lose visibility in half your own city.

Who I tend to work with in Clifton

  • Home service contractors covering Clifton plus the surrounding towns, who need one site that ranks across several municipalities
  • Trades and specialist services along the Route 46 and Route 3 corridors, where customers arrive by car and compare a few businesses before calling
  • Independent retail and food businesses in Botany Village and around Styertowne, where the site is mostly serving people who already know the name and want hours, directions and a phone number fast
  • Professional services near Allwood, where the site carries most of the credibility work before a first appointment

Clifton is a phone-first market

A large share of local searches here happen in a car or on a job site. If your site takes four seconds to appear on mobile data, you have lost the customer to whoever loaded first. Every site I build is tested at 320px and typically loads in under two seconds, which matters more in a drive-through town than it does somewhere people browse from a desk.

Working with a local designer

I am based in Passaic County, so Clifton is a short drive. If you would rather meet in person to talk through a project than do it over email, that is easy to arrange. If you would rather never meet and just get a site built, that works too.

Also serving Paterson, Wayne and Montclair.

What it costs. Managed plans are $500/mo with $0 down and include hosting, unlimited edits and updates. One-time builds start at $2,500. Full breakdown on the pricing page.
