A landscaping site organised around the calendar, because the work is

Groundcrew is a concept build. Landscaping is the one trade where most of the money is recurring and where search volume swings by a factor of ten between December and March. A services list that looks the same in February as it does in June throws that away, so the whole site is built on the year instead.

The Groundcrew Landscape Co. home page, showing four seasons of the same property

01

The home page is twelve months

The first screen is four seasons of the same kind of Bergen County property, and the panel for the month you are in is marked. Keep going and the whole year is laid out, month by month, with what the crews are doing in each one.

A homeowner looking in October has leaves on the brain. In January it is the driveway. In April it is the fact that the lawn came back patchy. Same site, three different front doors, and no one has to hunt through a services menu to find the thing that is on their mind today.

02

Snow gets its own page, and it stays up all year

People sign snow contracts in October, not in January. A page that only goes live when it gets cold misses the entire signup window and then competes for attention on the one night of the year when every landscaper in the county is fully booked.

03

The work pages are about drainage, not photographs

Six properties, each written up as a problem and what was done about it. Standing water traced back to a rear downspout. Everyone had blamed the neighbour's grade. Two low terraces cut instead of one tall wall, so both stay under the height where the town starts asking for an engineer.

That is the kind of detail that makes a homeowner think the person writing it knows what they are doing. A gallery of finished patios says nothing about whether yours will still be flat in ten years.

04

Maintenance is sold like the subscription it is

A weekly mowing account is worth more over five years than a one-off patio, and it costs almost nothing to keep once you have it. So the maintenance programme is named, itemised, priced by range and signed up for on the page. Most landscaping sites bury it at the bottom, under the photographs of retaining walls.

05

What it weighs

179 KB across nine requests for the first screen, no third-party scripts, and 100 on all four Lighthouse categories for every page meant to be indexed. The photography is served as AVIF with WebP behind it, at five widths, so a phone downloads a phone-sized file.

  • 100 Lighthouse, all four categories
  • 179 KB Everything the first screen needs
  • 9 Requests before first paint
  • 0 Third-party scripts
