The home page that tells you to call somebody else first

Open & Mindful takes in-home referrals for children through PerformCare, the system New Jersey runs for children's behavioural health. A parent cannot become a client by calling the practice. They have to call PerformCare first, and almost nobody knows that. So the site says so, on the home page, with the number.

01

Four steps, in order, with the phone number in step one

Call PerformCare and ask for in-home therapeutic services. If the child qualifies, a care manager comes out to the house and works out what they need. During that meeting, ask for Open & Mindful by name. Then therapy starts.

Step three is the only one that earns the practice anything, and it never happens unless the parent got through steps one and two. Publishing the whole sequence, including a phone number that belongs to a different organisation entirely, costs the practice nothing and saves a parent a week of being transferred around.

02

Use the real names of the treatments

The services list spells out Exposure and Response Prevention and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, then explains each one in a sentence.

A parent who has just been told their child needs ERP is typing ERP into Google that night. A site that only says "anxiety support" is invisible to them. It is the same problem a roofer has when their site says "roofing solutions" instead of ice dam removal.

03

The questions people will not ask on the phone

Six of them, answered plainly on the page. What happens in the first session. Whether insurance is taken. How telehealth works. Which ages are seen. Which approaches are used. How long therapy usually goes on for.

Calling a therapist for the first time is hard enough without having to ask a stranger whether you can afford it. Every question answered on the page is one less reason to close the tab.

04

One form, with a promise on it

Name, email, phone, message. Above it, a line saying you will hear back inside 24 to 48 hours. On a phone, a single button follows you down the page and nothing competes with it.

The form posts straight to the host, so there is no plugin sitting in the middle of it and no monthly fee for a contact form.
